Excursions and tours in Normandy for your groups

Mont-Saint-Michel, the D-Day beaches, Giverny, the cider route: our excursions in Normandy for groups, with a private guide. A single quotation, everything organised.

Introduction

Showing your teams, clients or partners around Normandy

Are you looking to show a group around Normandy? Normandy DMC designs and runs excursions and tours in Normandy for companies, executive committees, international groups and partner agencies. From Mont-Saint-Michel to the D-Day beaches, from Giverny to the cider route, we organise your tour of Normandy from A to Z: transport, accommodation, catering, private visits and a Normandy guide. A single point of contact, a single quotation, and the travel operator licence that secures your programme.

An excursion is not a parenthesis in a corporate programme: it is often what participants are still talking about months later. Normandy lends itself to this like few French regions, because it brings together within a small radius worlds that have nothing to do with one another: the memory of the Landings, the cradle of Impressionism, a coast of elegant seaside resorts, a hinterland of orchards and stud farms, and Mont-Saint-Michel.

Our tours are aimed at five profiles: companies extending a one-day seminar with a day of discovery, incentive groups who want a memorable programme, executive committees looking for time apart, international clients and groups, and events or destination management agencies that entrust us with operations in Normandy.

Our tours

Our excursions and tours in Normandy

Here are the themes we run. Each tour is adapted to your group, whatever its size: we respond to all requests.

The D-Day beaches and the D-Day circuit

From half a day to 3 days. Omaha Beach, Juno, Sword, Gold Beach, Arromanches and its artificial harbour, the American cemetery at Colleville, the Caen Memorial. It is our most requested theme among international groups, and the one with the strongest effect. The tour can be done by coach with a historian guide, in vintage military vehicles, or a combination of both. For a full stay, we build 2- to 3-day tours covering the American and Anglo-Canadian sectors.

Details of our D-Day beaches visits are on its dedicated page.

Mont-Saint-Michel

One day. The abbey, the bay and the village, with a private visit possible outside peak hours. We handle what the Mont imposes and groups often discover too late: coach parking, shuttles, tide times and abbey booking slots. It is a full day from the Côte Fleurie, to be organised precisely.

Giverny, Monet and the cradle of Impressionism

Half a day to a full day. Claude Monet’s house and gardens, the museum of Impressionisms, and the Seine valley that settled the painters in the 19th century. Giverny is the ideal entry point for a group coming from Paris, about an hour from the capital. We frequently pair it with a seminar: it is one of the few Normandy destinations where our clients hold the meeting and the discovery on the same site.

Caen and Bayeux, in the footsteps of William the Conqueror

Half a day to a full day. The Bayeux Tapestry, inscribed on UNESCO’s Memory of the World register, the cathedral, Caen’s ducal castle and the Abbaye aux Hommes. A simple and effective narrative thread for a group: the story of a conquest told in its places of origin, with a guide who unfolds it stage by stage.

The cider and cheese route in the Pays d’Auge

Half a day. This is our most convivial tour and, by far, the one groups talk about most. It follows the cider and cheese route through the half-timbered villages of the Pays d’Auge, with stops in orchards, dairy farms and a distillery. Participants taste Camembert and farmhouse cider, but above all they see behind the scenes of production: ageing, pressing, the still. It is not a tasting in a room: it is a production visit.

Honfleur, Deauville, Étretat and the Normandy coast

Half a day to a full day. The old harbour of Honfleur, the boardwalk of Deauville, the cliffs of Étretat, Trouville and the Côte Fleurie. A seaside tour that combines easily with a seminar on site, and works well in busy periods provided slots are anticipated.

Châteaux and built heritage

Half a day. The Château du Champ de Bataille and its gardens, the manor houses of the Pays d’Auge, Normandy’s abbeys. Some of these venues can be privatised: it is then a visit, a lunch or an evening in a setting the group would never have visited alone.

Cultural stays and natural landscapes

On quotation, from 2 to 5 days. For groups staying several days, we build complete programmes combining heritage, landscapes and gastronomy, with coordinated accommodation and catering. It is the format most requested by our international clients.

Tailor-made

Tailor-made tours

Every tour in Normandy we design is personalised. The programme for an executive committee of 12 has nothing to do with that for a group of 150 employees, nor with that for an international group discovering France. We adapt the pace, the level of commentary, the free time, the catering and the cultural or dietary constraints.

In practice, we start from three questions: how many participants, how long, and what do you want them to take away. The programme is built from there, not from a catalogue.

Our approach

A Normandy guide, not a passing guide

Our private visits are led by Normandy guides who know the region and its players. That makes a difference in things a group does not see but which decide the success of a day: the right time slot to avoid the crowds at the abbey, the producer who agrees to open their workshop on a Tuesday morning, the route that avoids the bottleneck at a site entrance, the fallback plan when the weather turns.

That is the difference between a tour bought from a catalogue and a tour run by a destination management agency based on the spot. Our guides speak French and English.

Our organisation

We organise the whole trip from A to Z

We take care of the entire programme:

  • Transport: coaches, minibuses, vintage vehicles, transfers from Paris, the station or the airport
  • Accommodation: selection, booking and management of rooming lists
  • Catering: lunches, dinners, privatisations, management of dietary requirements and allergies
  • Private visits, site bookings and guides
  • On-site coordination, from the first to the last day, by a dedicated project manager

All on a single quotation. And a point that matters particularly on this subject: Normandy DMC holds the travel and stay operator licence IM014170010 issued by Atout France. This registration is mandatory to sell tourist packages in France. Many entertainment agencies do not have it, which legally prevents them from selling you a tour including transport and accommodation.

Frequently asked questions

FAQ: Excursions and tours in Normandy

What excursions do you offer in Normandy?+

Our tours cover the D-Day beaches and the D-Day circuit, Mont-Saint-Michel, Giverny and Claude Monet’s house, Caen and Bayeux with the tapestry, the cider and cheese route in the Pays d’Auge, the Normandy coast from Honfleur to Étretat, and the châteaux of the region. Each tour is built to measure for your group, from half a day to five days.

Do you organise excursions for private individuals?+

We are a B2B destination management agency: we design tours for established groups, companies, executive committees, international groups and partner agencies. We do not organise group departures for individuals, but we occasionally organise a tailor-made stay for a family, for example.

How many participants for an excursion in Normandy?+

From 10 people for a private visit up to 200 participants for a tour of the D-Day beaches, and up to 1,000 people on our event formats. Beyond about a hundred participants, we organise rotation by sub-groups with several guides.

What does a tour organised by Normandy DMC include?+

Transport, accommodation, catering, private visits, site bookings, guides and on-site coordination, on a single quotation. We hold the travel and stay operator licence IM014170010 issued by Atout France, mandatory to market a package including transport and accommodation.

Can a seminar and an excursion be combined?+

It is even the most frequent case. A working day followed by a half-day of discovery is a very popular format, and some destinations such as Giverny allow the meeting and the visit to be held on the same site. We build the articulation from the brief.

Do you offer multi-day tours?+

Yes. We build stays of 2 to 5 days, particularly on the D-Day beaches where the American and Anglo-Canadian sectors require at least two days, and for international groups who want to cover several Normandy worlds.

Do you host international groups?+

Yes, it is one of our specialities. We support groups from Europe, North America and elsewhere, with suitable guides and consideration of cultural and dietary constraints. Our dedicated site normandydmc-en.com supports English-speaking groups.
